Wellington Regional Council- Wainuiomata Water Treatment Plant
Commissioned in 1994, the Wainuiomata water treatment plant provides up to 60 million
litres of high-quality drinking water daily to the wider Wellington region.
From multiple water sources this small footprint dissolved air flotation (DAF) process
is designed to operate unattended if required so back up of the process control
instrumentation and systems is important.
Originally engaged to specify and provide the complete electrical engineering, process
instrumentation and control systems designs for the process contractor (PWT New Zealand),
Horizon Technology ultimately supplied a complete PLC and SCADA system as well.
Services and systems supplied:
- Full instrumentation, control and electrical (I.C.E.) designs.
- Tender evaluation & supervision of sub-contractors
- Supply of a fully redundant pair of Texas Instruments Process 565 controllers
operating in a true hot-standby configuration.
- Supply of a site-wide Citect SCADA system for process indication, control, alarming,
trending and data collection.
- Miri radio telemetry link to the Orongorongo headworks
- Supply of Ci Technologies Plant-2-Business data warehousing and distribution software
to link Citect real-time plant data into the WRC information network.
